“Hargia” wastewater
plant is facilitated by old equipment therefore plant cannot purifying the
chromium in tanning industrial wastewater polluted by chromium (VI), which has
a serious effect on the environment and human health. In order to remove low
content heavy metals from aqueous media novel method such as adsorption which
is economically beneficial, no effect of matter’s biogeochemical cycle in the
environment, and provides the opportunity to remove metals selectively is
needed. Recently uses of new
adsorption materials is widely used for removal of heavy metals.
Silicon-organic polymer is known as adsorption materials which have the unique
characteristics such as selectivity, efficiency and tolerance in acidic
solution. In this research the possibility of uses as an
adsorbent material for removal hexavalent chromium, its absorption mechanism
and absorption process kinetics, thermodynamics and equilibrium were studied.
Adsorption capacity of chromium(VI) onto silicon-organic sorbent containing
thiocarbamide (-HN-C(S)-NH-) group, which named
poly[N,N’-bis(3-silseskquioxanilpropyl) thiocarbamide] (PSTM-3T) was
investigated in a batch
system by considering the
effects of various parameters like contact time, initial concentration, pH and
temperature. It was revealed that this
porous absorbent material has a functional group containing N and S
atoms therefore heavy metal ions in large amount of diluted solutions of
contaminated water, the metal ion bonded by coordination bond and removes
the metal contamination.
