The
negative effects of the social and economic crisis of the 1990s on the lives of
children dictated a need to institute a profession to assist them, include them
in welfare services and support the fulfillment of their rights to education. Save
the Children UK which was operating in Mongolia at that time raised awareness
that such a professional can be a social worker and implemented the first steps
which led to commencement of the services of social workers. The Parliament and the Government of Mongolia
implemented welfare programmes such as “Newborns”, “Newlyweds” and “Children’s
money” aiming at enhanced accessibility of social services and aiding children
and families. About 3.0 percent of the gross domestic product were spent for
these programmes. However, the ever deepening complexity of family issues affect
the social life and social relations demonstrating the necessity of enhancement
of the social work services for children and families. The experience of the last decade with social
work services has proved that behavior and lifestyle of clients can only change
when their living environment is outreached and influenced. Expressed
differently, the problems arisen in the primary environment of children such as
the school and family cannot be solved without influencing each member of them. The aim of this topic is not to narrate the
details of problems encountered by children. It aims at exploring how the
wellbeing of children depends on the quality and outcomes of social work
services and at producing recommendations on how to ensure wellbeing of
children. Өгүүллийн төрөл: ЭШХ-ын эмхэтгэлд өгүүллийн хураангуй
