paper discusses the curriculum content and current trends in continuing
professional development for English language teachers (n≈580) in secondary
schools in 2014 at the Institute of Teacher’s Professional Development. Based
on the needs analysis (n=814) in
2013 and TOEIC scores (n=500) in
2014, the 24-hour-lecture and 24-hour-workshop were conducted by native speaker
English teachers. It focused on developing teachers’ knowledge of three key
areas – standard, methodology and English language skills. Teachers were also encouraged to
actively reflect on their own prior learning and teaching experience.
