Өгүүллийн хураангуй: Abstract This paper will serve as a springboard for further discussions about future roles of teachers in Mongolia and will contribute to raising awareness for a new expectation of what constitutes the 21st century teacher, i.e. a teacher working within new context of professionalism. The paper looks at general teacher competences required to meet the challenges of the 21st century. It also presents findings from a research project, Comparative Studies on Teacher Professional Standards supported by Hubert H. Humphrey Program of the government, USA and Mongolian State University of Education.
